Services within the Community 


Care-a-Van                   
Weekdays, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Care-a-van is a free transport service offered free of charge to area residents; drivers work 3 hour shifts, always in pairs.
 
     Adult Day Center                   
Variable hours
Volunteers assist with meals, reality therapy, crafts, music and cooking activities, and one-on-one socializing and games.
 
The Family Room                  
Mondays 3 – 6 p.m., Wednesdays 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
This is a program for parents of children from birth to age three.  Parents exchange points gained through positive parenting behaviors for supplies for their children that are carried in The Family Room store.  The store is completely staffed and run by volunteers.
 
 
 
Hospital-Based Services
 
Information Desk                   
7 a.m. – Noon, 12 - 4 p.m.
Volunteers provide information to the public, offer free digital blood pressure readings, and call area pastors and priests daily upon request.
 
The purpose of the Auxiliary is to promote the welfare of Ottawa Regional Hospital & Healthcare Center through fundraising and other activities.  The Auxiliary is a separately incorporated tax-free body governed by its own Board of Directors.
 
Traditionally, Auxiliary funds have supported state-of-the art patient-centered medical equipment.   Other recent financial commitments include:

  • $9,000 per year to The Family Room
  • Startup funds and a three-year commitment to the Health Center of Eastern LaSalle County
  • Financial support of the Women’s Health Center
  • A free parenting video to all new moms who deliver at Ottawa Regional.
 
Fund Raising Activities:
 
Gift Shoppe                                       
Volunteers assist shoppers, clean shelves, cashier, stock products, gift wrap, and take special orders. 
 
ReRuns                                              
ReRuns, the Auxiliary’s resale shop, recently re-located to 719 LaSalle Street.  Volunteers intake, consign, mark, display, and sell merchandise.
 
Annual Fund Raising Events
Every other year the Auxiliary sponsors “Deck the Halls,” a pre-Christmas event that features a house walk, art and craft booths, resale booth, baked food booth, Christmas gift booth, and fine dining.
